Virus Indicator Test

IMG_1750, originally uploaded by theGardenDeva.

This is a test from Agdia showing positive for hosta virus. Note the the two purple lines on the test strip on the right side of the baggie. The test is easy to do and reminds me aof a home pregnancy test. A small piece of plant tissue is placed in the bag containing the reagents and the two squished up together. After a few hours the test strip on the edge of the bag will show two purple stripes if it’s positive. This will be fun for students to use in class.  Agdia has many different test kits for a wide variety of pathogens.  I will try out the INRV test in our greenhouse
