Jekyll and Hyde Prairie Restoration

One of my favorite exhibits at the show was created by Pizzo & Associates Ltd and showed the progression of a prairie restoration from start to finish. Viewers entered the exhibit to see a typical unmanaged urban wood overgrown with buckthorn, honeylocust, common reed and garlic. I wish there had been a bit more on identifying these invasive species as it seems most people seem to think all woody plants are good and don’t understand why its important to clear them out. It drives me crazy to see buckthorn and honeysuckle pruned into ‘bushes’
