The Good, The Bad and The Ugly – Life in the August Eco-Garden

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly – Life in the August Eco-Garden, originally uploaded by theGardenDeva.

We’ll begin with the Good! The Swallowtail butterflies are dining on Verbena bonariensis, Agastache, Salvia splendens and Butterfly bush, all the flowers I’ve planted to create a butterfly and moth garden. The Eastern Tiger Swallowtail seen here is the most frequent visitor and will soon lay eggs on the fennel and dill I’ve planted for their nursery. I’ve also enjoyed visits from the Black swallowtail, Monarch, Red Admiral and several other species I’ve yet to identify. Also watched a ‘hummingbird moth’ on Buddliea.  These creatures are so relaxing to watch, so beautiful
